Happy New Year! Indi Energy is back with the tenth edition of “Sodium-ion Batteries Technology Updates.”
Indi Energy, a DRDO 3.0 and National Startup Award winner, is an energy storage startup from India developing and commercializing sodium ion batteries. Through this tenth edition of “Sodium ion batteries technology updates,” first of all, we wanted to wish all our readers a very happy New Year and, secondly, continue on the tradition we established over the last couple of months, i.e., bring you all the recent developments in the world of energy storage technology.
Have you heard about bio-hybrid batteries?
Biohybrid batteries are batteries that typically involve integrating biological components, like enzymes or living cells, with traditional battery materials. This combination plays a crucial role in enhancing the battery’s performance while introducing several environmentally friendly features.
While bio-hybrid technology is not feasible for mainstream applications, Indi Energy’s sodium ion batteries, which utilize hard carbon materials, may soon be labelled as ‘eco-hybrid’ batteries because we use organically sourced components and have a lesser impact on the environment than any other batteries available in the market. A label such as this one will be extremely useful for industries and consumers to make a more conscious choice
The Indian Government may extend the FAME II scheme until FY25!
Being one of the pioneers in energy storage originating from the Indian landscape, we are delighted and applaud the potential extension of FAME II (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing Electric Vehicles), recognizing the Indian government’s dedication to electric mobility. The Parliamentary Committee’s endorsement is in sync with our commitment to sustainable transportation. We also appreciate proposals to reduce GST on lithium-ion batteries, helping the affordability of our sodium-ion counterparts as well.
Indi Energy has always stressed its commitment, which goes beyond technology. We are advocates for battery standardization, swapping policies, and prioritizing sustainability through research and development. Embracing the chemistry of sodium ion batteries means we contribute to a diverse, eco-friendly battery landscape. As an environmentally conscious startup, we prioritize clean energy solutions, striving for a greener, sustainable future in electric vehicle technology as well as industrial-level energy storage applications.
Can Sodium ion batteries reduce power transmission costs?
Indi Energy’s sodium ion batteries offer a multifaceted approach to reducing power transmission costs. Their deployment in strategic locations minimizes the need for extensive transmission lines, decreasing transmission losses and enhancing grid stability. Our batteries, integrated with renewable sources, store excess energy during low demand, alleviating reliance on the main grid during peak periods. Our sodium ion batteries promote localized energy storage, reducing dependence on extensive transmission infrastructure.
Additionally, they provide voltage support, improve power quality, and help manage peak demand, thereby lowering associated charges. India is already adding transmission lines, especially for renewable sources, due to baseload requirements, which is why grid storage systems that use sodium-ion batteries can delay and avoid these infrastructural costs. Indi Energy’s sodium ion batteries are a versatile solution that can address various aspects of energy distribution, contributing to a more cost-effective and efficient power transmission system.
