The National Startup Awards were launched by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) in 2020 with the object of rewarding and recognizing outstanding startups and enablers in the startup ecosystem that are building innovative products and demonstrating measurable social impact.
The National Startup Awards 2022 encompass schemes launched by the Indian Government through innovations and sectors that focus on the mission of an “Atma Nirbhar Bharat.” The energy sector in the National Startup Awards 2022 identifies startups working on aspects of clean energy, energy efficiency, and energy storage, covering the stack of future-proofing our nation’s energy sector needs. Indi Energy’s recognition in this prestigious award highlights our pioneering contributions, and not only are we driving India towards a greener future, but we are taking the world along with us on a more sustainable energy future.
Why did Indi Energy win “Best Startup” in the National Startup Awards 22?
Indi Energy’s sodium-ion batteries have gained traction globally because of what they represent: sustainability, affordability, and safety! Offering a higher energy density than lead-acid batteries, our sodium-ion batteries can store more energy in a smaller space and also have a longer cycle life with rapid charging and discharging. But that’s not all. Indi Energy sodium-ion batteries have a similar energy density to lithium-ion batteries and provide similar performance but at a lower cost, which in itself is a big achievement. Yet the biggest highlight of our sodium-ion batteries is that they take on lithium-ion batteries head-on and are going to put a stop to the environmental havoc caused by lithium mining. And since sourcing sodium is environmentally friendly, along with our anode, BioBlackTM which is one of the world’s highest-performing Hard Carbon made from agricultural and biowaste, a sodium-ion cathode, and a proprietary sodium-ion electrolyte, Sodium-ion batteries are the zenith of sustainability as of now. By being non-flammable, easily recyclable, and having a wide range of applications, we have provided the world with a tangible alternative to lithium-ion batteries.
