Sodium Battery Companies & Tech Updates 42

Welcome to the forty-second issue of “Sodium-ion Batteries Technology Updates,” a series from Indi Energy, one of the world’s leading sodium battery companies and India’s first indigenous sodium-ion battery manufacturers.

Indi Energy is a DRDO 3.0, NSA’22, & SIDBI Environmental Challenge’24 winner and one of the world’s leading sodium battery companies involved in developing, and commercializing sodium-ion batteries and customizable sodium-ion battery packs.

As part of the Make in India initiative, Indi Energy has its own supply chain for our sodium-ion batteries, which is completely indigenous, a.k.a. homegrown. We are setting a new benchmark in the energy storage sector by transforming energy storage solutions sustainably.

In this forty-second issue of sodium-ion battery technology updates, we will go through the recent updates in the world of sodium-ion batteries, the energy sector, and an overview of the global energy outlook.

Indi Energy takes an innovative leap!

We are delighted to announce that Indi Energy, one of the world’s and India’s leading sodium battery manufacturing companies, is partnering with IIT Roorkee on a project that aligns with our mission of building a self-sustaining circular economy by advancing battery recycling.

The project, titled “Closed Loop Recovery of Li and Ni from Spent Batteries and Development of Sustainable Electrodes for Future Indigenous Batteries,” focuses on recycling lithium (Li) and nickel (Ni) from end-of-life batteries.

Indi Energy is a DRDO 3.0, NSA'22, & SIDBI Environmental Challenge’24 winner and 1 of the world’s leading sodium battery companies.

Shri G. Kishan Reddy, the Union Minister of Coal and Mines, Govt. of India, presented Indi Energy and IIT-Roorkee representatives with a project approval letter—a significant endorsement of its immense potential and impact.

As the industrial partner on this project, Indi Energy will play a key role in enhancing resource and cost efficiency in battery production, a precursor to achieving sustainable transformation in the energy and transport sectors.

In the coming years, this collaboration, alongside our sodium-ion battery technology, will substantially reduce the global environmental footprint, paving the way for a more sustainable and efficient future in energy storage solutions.

Achieving Net Zero Emissions by 2050!

During the recent COP29-IEA Roundtable, over 50 global leaders from energy, climate, and finance gathered to address the critical challenge of scaling up clean energy investments. The consensus is clear: To achieve Net Zero Emissions by 2050, global clean energy investments must double to over $4 trillion annually by 2030.

This ambitious target requires increased cooperation between governments, financial institutions, and industries, especially in emerging and developing economies. At Indi Energy, we fully endorse this vision. Accelerated investment in clean energy projects is essential for reaching net zero emissions and fostering a sustainable future, and this includes leveraging sodium-ion batteries!

Indi Energy’s revolutionary sodium-ion battery technology will significantly enhance the viability and accessibility of renewable energy, particularly in regions facing barriers related to cost and resource availability, thereby reinforcing the clean energy ecosystem. We urge industry leaders, governments, and all stakeholders to join us in driving the adoption of sodium-ion battery technology.

At Indi Energy, we are harnessing sodium, one of Earth’s most abundant elements, integrating it with our proprietary, BioBlackTM—bio waste and agricultural waste derived organic hard carbon, sodium-ion cathode, and sustainable liquid sodium electrolyte. They form the core components of our sodium-ion batteries and customizable sodium-ion battery packs, capable of delivering optimum performance while setting the industry’s highest safety standards.

Our sodium-ion battery technology represents a cost-effective, environmentally friendly alternative to traditional lithium-based batteries 🔋, ensuring affordable and accessible energy storage solutions that will promote sustainable energy practices, benefiting society and driving economic growth.

The potential impact of our sodium-ion batteries on climate action has led to Energy Alternatives India and The Better India naming Indi Energy as one of its “Top 100 Innovative Indian Startups in Climate Action,” and “5 Innovating Startups Revolutionising India’s Renewable Energy Sector.”
